Graduating from Kent State University’s design school in 1989, Barry worked at a 7-person marketing communications agency for the next five years where he became Creative Director. Clients included Figgie International, Lubrizol, Steris Corporation and Sentinel Consumer Products. Barry left in 1995 to establish his own marketing communications company while also teaching digital art classes at Lakeland Community College. He continued to teach Photoshop to students of all ages until 2014. He consistently received excellent reviews from the students, fellow teachers and the department head.
Barry founded Edwards Communications with a focus on branding and marketing communications solutions. The company evolved greatly as technology changed the business landscape. Today, EC specializes in online lead generation, brand optimization and content development. Barry has won awards for exceptional graphic design, but today receives more praise for establishing successful lead generation systems for small businesses.
Barry started his Over 50 Starting Over blog a year ago. What started out as a blog aimed at exploring helpful small business marketing and personal tips to middle aged entrepreneurs is now in a second stage of evolution — the live format. Barry is melding his passion for teaching with his lead generation and branding experience and help people that are Over 50 Starting Over realize a truly passionate career.
